My School, Khon Kaen Wittayayon School

What to say about Thai schools..hmm.. My school has 4500 students grades 7-12. It gets a little crazy and as to be expected I am the only white person or farang so I get a lot of staring, pointing, and lauging. The building here is the English department were all the Enlish classes are given. There are five more buidings this size, and with eight classes a day it is a lot of walking.

Little Lyndsey Mason... Oh man, I remember babysitting you when you and Addy had to trap the moths in your living room for me, because I was afraid of them! And now you are living in Thailand... I have been keeping up on your experiences through my fam and love hearing about them. I have had some parallels here in Mexico, but on a completely different scale, yours being far more intense. Props to you lady, I am jealous... and not jealous =) all at the same time. This experience is going to grow your person more than you can ever imagine and I can assure you I would not have been up to it at 16. Your photos are beautiful, take lots of them, and never say 'no' to an invitation to do anything while you are there (ok, there are lines you shouldn't cross, but in general jump at every opportunity) and every day do two things: Aknowledge how lucky you are to be in such an amazingly different place AND aknowledge how amazing you are for being able to function and live there, because most people couldn't do it. Te quiero mucho and if you ever want to vent about being abroad things, shoot me an email (I am serious about the parallels) tucker.k@neu.edu

Take care Miss Mason!

The high school looks like a college campus. I cannot imagine going to highschool with so many students. Southern Oregon University only has 5000 students and it seems small to me compared to the crowded Calif. colleges. Fall is here - we are having warm days 70 degrees and cool nights. The oak trees are turning beautiful fall colors and Jacksonville is absolutely picturesque - it looks like a New England village.
We're glad your host family has worked out. Enjoy, and keep us all updated.
love you...M.A.
